L Tranter and Son is an independent funeral directors founded in 1898 by brothers John and Leonard Tranter. Based on West Street in St Georges, Telford, the firm restored its historic premises in 2009 and grew to include Aston House, described as Telford's first large capacity funeral director service hall. Now serving the community across five generations, the business operates alongside sister brands Evans and Tranter and Bailey and Tranter across the Telford area.
Services include a wide range of coffins and caskets (veneered, solid wood, American-style, eco-friendly and coloured options), funeral transport, memorials and headstone care, floral tributes, funeral stationery, and chapels of rest. Aston House additionally offers private parking, a reception lounge for mourners, and facilities for live streaming, music and visual tributes. The firm also arranges pre-paid funeral plans through Golden Charter and supports charitable donation requests and press notices, guiding families through the arrangements for a fitting tribute to their loved ones.
