1. Introduction

Trusted Funeral Directors ("the Directory", "we", "us", "our") is an independent online directory operated by Funeral Templates, a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom (registered contact: 9 Windsor Avenue, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 1AW). The Directory helps families across the UK find funeral directors who operate with transparency, professionalism, and accountability.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Directory website at trustedfuneraldirectors.co.uk ("the Site"). By browsing the Site, searching for a funeral director, submitting a claim form for a listing, or contacting us through the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, please don't use the Site.

If you have any questions about these Terms, please get in touch — our contact details are at the end of this page.

2. Definitions

  • "Listing" means an entry on the Directory representing a funeral director or funeral home business.
  • "Listing Owner" means the funeral director, funeral home, or authorised representative who has claimed and manages a Listing.
  • "User" means any visitor to the Site, including individuals searching for a funeral director and Listing Owners.
  • "Claim" means the process by which a Listing Owner requests management rights over an existing Listing.

3. About the Directory

The Directory is a searchable database of UK funeral directors. Listings may be added by us using publicly available information, or created and managed directly by funeral directors themselves. The Directory is intended as a helpful research tool for families and is not a replacement for your own independent checks into a funeral director's suitability, pricing, or accreditation.

Use of the Directory to search for and view Listings is currently free of charge for members of the public.

4. Contacting Us Through the Site

The Site includes a contact page that you can use to get in touch with us, for example with a general enquiry, feedback, or a question about a Listing. When you use this form, we'll collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message) so we can respond to you. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how this information is used.

5. Claiming a Listing

If you're a funeral director and find an existing Listing for your business, you can request to "claim" it by completing our claim form. This form asks for your name, email address, and a message providing evidence that you're authorised to manage the Listing (for example, proof of your role or ownership of the business).

We review claim submissions manually. We may approve, reject, or request further information for any claim at our sole discretion, and we may take reasonable steps to verify the information provided. We aim to respond to claim requests within a reasonable timeframe but don't guarantee a specific turnaround time.

Once a Listing is claimed, the Listing Owner is responsible for keeping the information on it accurate, up to date, and lawful.

6. Listing Owner Responsibilities

  • Ensure all information provided (business name, address, contact details, services, and any other content) is accurate and not misleading.
  • Only submit content you have the right to use, and that doesn't infringe on anyone else's intellectual property or rights.
  • Comply with all applicable UK laws and industry regulations relevant to the funeral profession.
  • Not use the Listing to post false, defamatory, offensive, or unlawful content.

We reserve the right to edit, suspend, or remove any Listing that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms, is inaccurate, or is otherwise inappropriate, without prior notice.

7. Free Access and Future Changes

The Directory is currently free to use for both members of the public and funeral directors claiming and managing a Listing. We may introduce paid features, premium listings, or subscription tiers in the future. If we do, we'll update these Terms and give reasonable notice before any charges apply to existing Listing Owners.

8. Affiliate Marketing and Promotion of Related Products and Services

The Directory displays links, adverts, or recommendations for products and services offered by Funeral Templates, including our personally and commercially licensed funeral stationery templates.

We also currently participate in affiliate marketing. This means some links on the Site may be affiliate links, and if you click through and make a purchase or take a qualifying action with a third-party business, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are used to help support the free operation of the Directory. We aim to only recommend products and services we believe may be genuinely useful to families and funeral directors, but an affiliate relationship does not amount to an endorsement or guarantee of any third-party product or service, and we're not responsible for the products, services, or conduct of any third party you engage with through an affiliate link.

Where affiliate links are used, we take reasonable steps to disclose this on the Site. See our Privacy Policy for details on how affiliate link tracking uses cookies.

9. Cookies

The Site uses a cookie consent banner to let you choose which non-essential cookies (such as those used for affiliate link tracking) you're happy for us to use. You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie settings link on the Site. For full details on the cookies we use and why, please see our Privacy Policy.

10. Acceptable Use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its underlying systems.
  • Use automated tools (such as scrapers or bots) to extract Listing data in bulk without our permission.
  • Submit false or fraudulent claim requests.
  • Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation, or interfere with other users' enjoyment of it.

11. Intellectual Property

The Site design, branding, text, and underlying software are owned by or licensed to Funeral Templates, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse any part of the Site without our prior written permission, other than viewing and using it for its intended purpose of finding a funeral director.

Listing Owners retain ownership of the content they submit about their own business, but grant us a licence to display, edit for formatting or accuracy, and use that content for the purposes of operating the Directory.

12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Directory is provided as an independent information resource. Inclusion of a funeral director on the Directory, or use of the word "Trusted" in our branding, does not constitute a formal endorsement, guarantee, or certification of that business by us. We make reasonable efforts to keep Listing information accurate but cannot guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free, particularly for Listings not yet claimed by their owner.

We recommend that families carry out their own checks (for example, reviewing accreditations, reading independent reviews, and speaking directly with a funeral director) before making any decisions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Funeral Templates accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Directory, your reliance on any Listing information, or your dealings with any funeral director or third party found through the Site (including via affiliate links). Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where such liability cannot be excluded under UK law.

13. Removal of Listings

Funeral directors or their authorised representatives may request removal of a Listing at any time by contacting us. We may also remove a Listing if we reasonably believe it is inaccurate, fraudulent, or breaches these Terms.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features such as paid plans or additional affiliate partnerships. We'll post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these Terms or the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
