Chelmsford Star Co-operative Funeral Directors has been arranging funerals for Essex families since 1936, as the funeral division of the independent, member-owned Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society (not part of the national Co-op Group/Funeralcare chain). Local branch officers provide family liaison, and the service extends to bereavement support groups for people needing additional help.
The society is a National Association of Funeral Directors member and holds Fair Funerals and Good Funeral Guide accreditations, and was recognised as "Best Funeral Providers in Essex" in the 2022 Business Excellence Awards. Pre-paid funeral plans are offered through Ecclesiastical insurance.
