Walter H Squires & Son is a third-generation, family-owned independent funeral director founded in 1933 in Tiverton, Devon, by wheelwright Walter H Squires. Now run by Ryan and Melanie Squires, the firm operates from locations including Exwick Villas in Exeter, as well as Cullompton and its original Tiverton office, with no affiliation to national chains and a strong emphasis on its family tradition.
Services include funeral arrangements available 24 hours a day, cremation and burial services, coffin selection, and pre-paid funeral plans through Golden Charter, alongside memorial website creation in partnership with Much Loved. The Cullompton premises are purpose-built facilities that the firm describes as unrivalled locally.
Staff are trained through the Independent Funeral Directors College, with most holding Induction and Funeral Operative Certificates, and the firm is a member of both the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), reflecting its motto: "From Tradition & Integrity Comes Peace of Mind."
