Trotman is an independent, family-run funeral director founded in winter 1933 by William John (Jack) Trotman, based in Doulting near Shepton Mallet, Somerset, and now in its fourth generation. Founder's grandson John Reakes remains involved, alongside Funeral Director Lee Fagan D'Oris. The firm offers unattended and attended cremation, bespoke and personalised funerals, and flexible pre-planning with deposit-based rather than upfront payment terms.
Services extend beyond Shepton Mallet through sister company Forsey and Son, which covers Glastonbury, Somerton, Butleigh, Street, and Langport, and provides memorial masonry. The Pavilion at Willowfields in Glastonbury offers a light, spacious room for services, wakes, and receptions, and the firm runs a STEPS bereavement support group for the local community. Environmental options include hybrid vehicles and willow coffins, and families can choose the gender of their funeral director. Trotman is a member of NAFD and SAIF.
