The Modern Funeral has operated as an independent funeral director in Brighton & Hove since 2012, run by a small, dedicated team of creative and professional funeral directors and celebrants. In 2022 the company opened The Modern Funeral Centre, an accessible ground-floor venue occupying the old waiting room at Preston Park station, which serves as both a ceremony space and chapel of rest for up to 20 people.
Services include personalised, celebrant-led funeral ceremonies, body care, overnight vigils, direct cremation and burial arrangements, alongside broader emotional support such as community death cafes and meditation sessions.
