Established in 1881 by Thomas Cribb, T Cribb & Sons is an independent, family-run funeral director now in its fifth generation, led by great-grandsons Graham and John alongside their children Catherine, Sarah, Nichola, Jack and Joe. Serving East London and Essex including Barking, the firm operates across multiple branches covering areas such as Chelmsford, Romford, Southend, Stratford and Ilford, and offers cremations, burials, direct cremation, and pre-paid plans.
The business is known for more distinctive services such as vintage and horse-drawn hearse hire with Dutch Friesian horses, worldwide repatriation, exhumations, bespoke masonry, coffin and casket selection, and a service room with capacity for around 120 guests. Its Beckton head office houses a dedicated Chinese Niche Remembrance Garden for traditional Chinese funerals, and the family also runs Thomas Cribb Carriage Masters, providing horse-drawn carriages for weddings and other special events. The firm is a member of NAFD and SAIF, and belongs to FIAT-IFTA for its international repatriation work.
