T Allen Funeral Service was founded in September 1995 by Lynn and Terry Allen; Terry had entered the funeral trade in 1972 at age 15, training with Francis Chappel and Sons - where he learned to prepare coffins, collect the deceased from hospitals and homes, and act as a pallbearer - before starting the family business. This branch serves the Twydall area of Gillingham as part of the wider Kent and Medway business, which remains family-run.
The team offers burials, cremations, eco-friendly and non-religious funerals, private chapels of rest, and personalised arrangement plans, alongside pre-paid funeral plans through Ecclesiastical Planning Services. Their fleet includes a choice of hearses such as a Land Rover, a Daimler and a vintage 1963 Vanden Plas Austin Princess, reflecting the firm's emphasis on a warm, professional approach tailored to each family. T Allen is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors.
