Roberts Bros Funeral Directors was founded in 1950 by Hugh Owen Roberts, a carpenter and joiner from Pentre Broughton, and formally established in its present form in 1952 from workshops behind the family's post office. The business remains wholly owned by the Roberts family four generations on, currently directed by Philip, Richard and Susan Roberts, with Stephen Roberts (Richard's son) having joined as a qualified funeral director in 2019.
Over the decades the firm has grown through acquisitions, including Hughes & Jones Bros of Coedpoeth in 1994 and T.A Rogers & Sons of Brymbo in 2005, and now operates from expanded, multi-storey premises on the High Street with a chapel of rest, administrative offices and a dedicated fleet hub built in 2017. Services span traditional and direct cremation funerals, self-arranged and pre-paid options, coffins, flowers, catering, memorial keepsakes and live streaming of services, with crematorium comparisons offered for facilities within around 30 minutes' drive.
Describing itself as "large enough to cope, but small enough to care", the firm prides itself on an open, empathetic and flexible approach with 24/7 availability. It continues to describe its mission as continuing the long-established Roberts family tradition of personal service and care to families across Wrexham.
