Porthcawl Funeral Services was established in 2009 by Richard Mustoe, who trained as an apprentice with a respected county funeral director and earned his Certificate in Funeral Practice before starting the business with his wife Sarah. Since then the couple have built a strong local reputation for a highly personal level of service, culminating in the opening of a purpose-built funeral home in 2016 with private reception and mourning areas for visiting families.
Based on New Road in Porthcawl, the team offers both traditional and bespoke funeral arrangements alongside direct cremations, and provides practical guidance on first steps following a bereavement, including help with death registration. Families can also arrange floral tributes and use the firm's own fleet of professional vehicles for funeral processions, with support available 24 hours a day.
As sole proprietors and hands-on directors, Richard and Sarah Mustoe remain personally involved in every funeral arranged through the business, giving Porthcawl families the reassurance of dealing directly with an independent, SAIF-accredited firm rather than a chain.
