John Heath & Sons has served Sheffield for over 140 years and is now run by sixth-generation directors Adam and Jason Heath, making it, by its own account, possibly the oldest and largest independent firm of funeral directors in the North of England. The business operates from eight locations across Sheffield — its original Earsham Street office plus branches on Ecclesall Road, Ecclesfield, Hollinsend, Meadowhead, Stannington, Crookes and Eckington — each with its own modern chapel of rest.
The firm offers traditional, religious, humanist and green funerals, direct cremation, and support with flowers, donations, music and orders of service, alongside pre-planning options with the choice to pre-pay at current prices. John Heath & Sons is a founder member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and also holds membership of the British Institute of Embalmers, the British Institute of Funeral Directors and Selected Independent Funeral Homes; Adam Heath serves as a national trade spokesperson and board examiner for the profession.
