James Ashton & Edward McHugh is the Lochee, Dundee branch of the James Ashton & Son group, an independent family business founded in 1910 and now the largest independent funeral director group in the region, also trading as James Ashton & Son (Cardean Street, Dundee), Edward McHugh (Hilltown, Dundee) and Macgregors (Largo Road, St Andrews). Across its four premises the group serves families throughout Dundee, St Andrews, Angus, Tayside and Fife, and complies with the Scottish Government's Funeral Director Code of Practice.
Services include standard and direct cremation or burial, coffin selection, care and viewing facilities, floral tribute and officiant liaison, service sheets and intimations, memorials, urns and keepsakes, repatriation, and prepayment plans through Golden Charter, with the group holding membership of both the National Association of Funeral Directors and the Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors. Standard cremation and burial services start from around £2,510, with direct cremation available from approximately £1,355, and the team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
