J Vernon Kendrick has been serving the Black Country since 1931, when Vernon Kendrick founded the family firm in Lye. Three generations on, it remains owned and directed by the Kendrick family, with a second funeral home added on Greenfield Avenue in 2014 to serve Stourbridge, Oldswinford, Wollaston and Norton more directly, while the original Lye branch continues to cover Lye, Wollescote and Pedmore. The business now sits alongside sister firms Farmer & Son and Marcus Adams within the same family group.

The team offers a full range of options, from direct cremation and a simple funeral through to traditional and traditional-plus funerals, alongside pre-payment plans arranged through Golden Charter, whose network serves more than a million customers nationally. Families are welcomed into modern, informally furnished arrangement rooms, and staff work closely with ministers and celebrants to shape coffins, floral tributes, music and visual tributes around a service that reflects the person who has died.

The firm describes its approach as respectful, dignified and professional, drawing on close to a century of local reputation built across Lye and Stourbridge.
