J R Jones & Co is part of the N E Downing family of independent funeral directors, which also trades as J T Brookes & Co across the Dudley and Stourbridge area. The Gornal branch operates from Chapel House, Five Ways, Lower Gornal, with a sister office in Dudley at 89 Dixon's Green Road that was renamed from Dainty & Downing in 2020 following renovation.
The group provides direct cremation, traditional services, and funerals accommodating West Indian, Sikh and Hindu customs, and partners with Golden Charter for prepaid funeral plans. It serves Dudley, Netherton, Tipton, Tividale, Oldbury and the surrounding area.
