J F Clarke & Son has been serving Axminster and the surrounding Devon villages since 1880, continuing as part of the wider AJ Wakely & Sons family of independent funeral homes - itself family-run since 1897 and now in its fourth generation - while keeping its own historic local name. The Axminster office is run by funeral director Simon Searle, who brings 40 years' experience to the role, supported by the team including Lindsey.
Both NAFD and SAIF members, and also affiliated with the British Institute of Embalmers, they offer a genuinely wide range of options - from traditional burials and cremations to green funerals, burial at sea, multi-faith ceremonies, and funeral webcasting for those who can't attend in person. A private chapel of rest, on-site parking, and 24-hour support are also available, alongside pre-paid funeral plans and bereavement counselling.
