Griffiths Bwtrimawr traces its roots to 1875, when Thomas Griffiths set up a carpentry and undertaking business in Betws. Five generations on, the family firm is led by Peter Griffiths alongside his children Rhodri, Lowri and Catrin, with grandson Iwan now also involved, giving the business well over 145 years of continuous family ownership.
The group has grown to five chapels across South Wales - Bwtrimawr in Betws (Ammanford), Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Glanamman, Pontarddulais and Llandeilo. The Pontarddulais chapel, Capel Y Bont, opened in 2014 and sits within the grounds of Bont Elim Community Church, offering a private chapel of rest as part of a fully bilingual Welsh and English service that keeps care rooted in the local community.
The wider group also runs Griffiths Memorials, whose staff hold BRAMM accreditation for memorial masonry, plus pre-paid funeral plans through Golden Charter and round-the-clock support, all delivered with what the firm describes as an efficient, professional and dignified service.
