Howcrofts has served Skipton since 1918. A fifth generation now carries on the family trade, running a monthly grief support group at its chapel.
Duckett Street, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 2EJ
Howcrofts is the longest-established, family-owned funeral service in Skipton, founded in 1918 by Tom Howcroft after he returned from the First World War. The business is now run by Vicki Howcroft-Metcalfe, a fourth-generation family member who qualified as a funeral director in 1996, with her niece Lucy Pickard representing a fifth generation on the team. Howcrofts is the twentieth member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and partners with SAIF for bereavement support. The firm offers traditional, green and woodland funerals alongside direct cremation and pre-paid plans, and Lucy founded the Embracing Change peer support group, which meets monthly at the firm's Chapel of Rest for anyone coping with grief.
