Hopkinson Wootton Lovatt traces its history back to around 1820, when Joseph Wootton's family began undertaking in Wolstanton; his grandson Cornelius later ran the firm as a coffin maker. After Cornelius's death his nephew Sidney Hopkinson took charge, and the Lovatt family subsequently took over, giving the business its present name in 1981.
Now operating from Hopkinson House in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the independent firm is a member of both NAFD and SAIF, and works with the area's two main crematoria, Bradwell and Carmountside, in arranging services. Its offering spans funeral arrangement, a dedicated vehicle fleet, coffins and caskets, floral tributes, on-site refreshment facilities for mourners, and pre-paid plans, alongside published, standardised price lists and disclosure documents for transparency.
Staff are available around the clock, delivering what the team describes as a service built on empathy, consideration and care for families across Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding Staffordshire area.
