HARP Funeral Services is an independent family business, formed through the merger of three long-standing local firms: Raymond Iles & Sons (founded 1985), Allan & Derek Davies Funeral Services (joined 2003) and Alfred James & Sons (associated since 2008, with roots dating to 1856). The company is now in its third generation of family ownership and describes itself as the oldest established funeral business in the Merthyr Tydfil borough, given its lineage back to 1856.
Based at the Harp Funeral Home on Swansea Road, Merthyr Tydfil, the company offers cremation and burial services, natural burial at Beacons Park Natural Burial Ground, hand-crafted memorials, funeral notices, pre-paid funeral plans through Golden Charter, and a fleet of Mercedes hearses and carriages for dignified transport.
HARP is a member of NAFD, SAIF and the British Institute of Embalmers (BIOE), and is FCA-regulated via its Golden Charter arrangement (FRN 965279). Its stated motto, "Care When It Matters Most," reflects the combined heritage of the three founding family firms that now make up the business.
