George Ball & Son was founded in 1870 by George Ball Snr as a coffin maker and undertaker, and remains in family hands five generations on. Margaret Arnison, the founder's great-granddaughter, took over the business in 1978; her son Daniel joined full-time in 1991 and now runs the firm alongside his wife Rachel, with sons Noah and Jacob representing a sixth generation currently training.
Operating from its Heaton Norris office in Stockport, the independent firm covers Stockport and the wider Greater Manchester area, offering traditional, alternative, direct cremation and green burial options alongside religious and non-religious ceremonies, with transparent online estimates available before families commit to arrangements.
The firm belongs to both NAFD and SAIF, and is an appointed representative of FCA-regulated Golden Charter for pre-paid plans.
