G Wathall & Son was established in 1858 and is Derby's longest-established funeral director, remaining an independently owned, fifth-generation family business. It now employs over 30 staff across eight branches around Derby - including Allestree, Alvaston, Ashbourne, Borrowash, Burton and Littleover alongside this Chaddesden office - each run to the same standard of traditional, dignified service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The firm holds SAIF membership, Cyber Essentials certification and Golden Charter Gold Seal status, and is an FCA-regulated appointed representative of Golden Charter for pre-paid funeral plans (FRN 965279), alongside an affiliation with the Natural Death Centre.
Beyond funeral arrangement, Wathall's runs a notably extensive bereavement support programme, including counselling, support groups and grief programmes for adults and children, memorial and headstone work, sympathy gifts, a textile collection service, and online video support for those unable to attend a service in person.
