Fred Hamer is one of the region's oldest family-owned funeral directors, trading for over 100 years and currently run by managing director John with his wife Dawn and daughters Emma and Hannah; several staff have more than 25 years' service. The Tonge Moor branch, at 243-245 Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, is one of several locations the firm operates across the North West of England, including Bury, Blackburn, Heaton, Nelson and Burnley.
The firm offers burial and cremation arrangements, celebrations of life, monumental masonry, bereavement support, personal funeral plans and direct (unattended) cremation, and operates one of the largest privately-owned Mercedes and Rolls Royce ceremonial vehicle fleets in the area, which it also leases to other funeral firms. It is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and the British Institute of Funeral Directors.
