E A Dodd & Son

E. A. Dodd & Son is a long-established Honiton funeral director and trading name of the independent, family-owned A. G. Down group, which also trades as W. G. Potter and Overmass & Chapple across a six-location network in Devon and Dorset. The Honiton business was acquired by the group in June 1999, and a second office opened in nearby Ottery St Mary in December 2016. The firm is directed by Eric and Joyce Dunford and Julian and Karen Hussey, with Jasmine and George Hussey (both Dip FD, NAFD) also involved.

It is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and is recommended by the Good Funeral Guide and the Natural Death Centre, offering service rooms for both religious and non-religious ceremonies, catering, green funerals and woodland burials. Coffin choices span traditional, natural and cardboard options as well as children's coffins, ash containers and jewellery, with a fleet of Mercedes hearses and limousines available alongside individual transport arrangements.

A distinctive point of difference is the firm's payment policy: no payment in advance is requested for any of its services, a stance the business highlights when families are comparing funeral directors.
