Founded in November 1912 when Donald McLaren purchased 'The Royal Stables' in Coatbridge, the firm describes itself as the oldest family business in Coatbridge and Airdrie and is now run by its fourth generation, sisters Carol Kerr and Julie McLaren. The company operates an indoor memorial showroom opened in 2012 offering granite and marble memorials, and maintains a fleet of Mercedes-Benz hearses and limousines including exclusive S-Class limousines.
