Founded in 1886, Tamworth Co-operative Society is a long-standing, member-owned mutual society — described as one of the last remaining truly independent co-operatives in the UK — trading across Staffordshire, Derbyshire, North Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Alongside twelve food stores and four post offices, the society operates eight funeral service locations, including this branch on Uttoxeter High Street.
As an independent regional society (distinct from the national Co-op Group/Funeralcare chain), it emphasises community ownership and local service.
