Burnell Tovey traces its roots to 1860, when Edwin Burnell founded a monumental mason business in Bedminster, Bristol; Albert Tovey joined in 1914 after marrying Edwin's daughter and began offering funeral services. Julian Britton acquired the company in 2020 when Richard Tovey retired, and now runs it alongside his family from the original East Street, Bedminster location at 13 Bedminster Parade.
The firm offers traditional funeral arrangements, chapel of rest facilities, a fleet of vehicles including hearses and carriages, pre-paid funeral plans, customised services and 24-hour emergency support.
Operating for over 160 years as an independent, family-run business, the firm is a member of BIFD and SAIF.
