Barnes and Hicks is an independent funeral director founded in 1999 by Ray Barnes, who qualified as a funeral director with honours in 1996 and set up his own firm after choosing not to follow his family's business when it was sold. The Shepherds Bush branch on Askew Road is the larger of the firm's two premises and features the traditional clock-in-window design associated with the company.
The firm is known for serving West London's diverse community, with particular experience in church services, religious ceremonies, and funerals for the West Indian community. Angie, Ray's partner and a former Register Office employee, manages client interactions at this branch, while the firm maintains a fleet of Jaguar vehicles and offers embalming and same-sex staff on request.
As the main Barnes and Hicks location, Shepherds Bush also offers post-funeral bereavement support and counselling for families across West London.
