Barnes and Hicks was founded in 1999 by Ray Barnes, who qualified as a funeral director with honours in 1996 and comes from a family with roots in funeral directing stretching back around a century. After the original family business was sold to a larger company, Ray set up this independent venture to keep serving West London on his own terms. The business now runs two branches, in Shepherds Bush and Hounslow, sharing a central mortuary facility, and is a member of both NAFD and SAIF. Ray is also an accredited trainer with the London Association of Funeral Directors and holds bereavement counselling qualifications, and the team is known locally for offering genuine choice and honest, straightforward guidance.
