Alderson & Horan was set up by Stephen and John, who between them bring over 40 years' experience in the funeral profession, gained partly at a local firm before it was bought out by a larger corporate group. Wanting to keep things personal rather than follow a more mass-market, corporate approach, they struck out on their own, and now run three offices across Burnley and Crawshawbooth in Rossendale, Lancashire.
The firm holds NAFD and SAIF accreditation, including SAIF Care certification, and offers a distinctive touch with a Victorian horse-drawn carriage alongside the usual hearse and limousine fleet. Beyond funeral arrangement, coffins and floral tributes, the team can arrange body repatriation, headstones and memorials, urns and caskets, and charity donation arrangements in lieu of flowers.
Pre-paid plans and aftercare support are part of the standard service, with the firm describing its approach as taking complete responsibility for arrangements so as to minimise the burden on grieving families, treating them like family and with the utmost respect rather than as just another case to process.
