Albert R Slack Ltd is an independent, family-owned funeral director based at Briarfield, South Oak Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, tracing its roots back over 150 years. The business began as a joinery and wheelwrights enterprise before Albert R Slack Senior, an apprentice joiner turned funeral director, became self-employed in 1952, taking over the funeral business originally started by his uncle's grandfather, John Slack.
In 1971 the firm expanded by acquiring Clegg's, a respected Wilmslow funeral business, and it also organised the first official cremation at Macclesfield Crematorium. The company continues to operate on the values instilled by Albert R Slack Senior while serving a religiously and culturally diverse local population, and works alongside sister firm JW Brocklehurst Ltd as part of the wider Cheshire Funerals group.
The Wilmslow branch offers both attended and direct cremation funerals with published standardised pricing for local families.
