A. J. Coggles Family Funeral Directors traces its history back to 1851, when the business began life in Pentney operating from a wheelwright's workshop. The Downham Market office, on Bridge Street, relocated in November 2022 to a former Barclays Bank building at 13 Bridge Street in the town centre, bringing the firm's long family tradition to the heart of the community. The business is now managed across five generations of the Coggles family, with David, Helen and George representing the current leadership.
The firm places great emphasis on delivering a level of service, care and dignity that reflects its long historical standing, offering personalised arrangements including home visits by directors when families prefer. Services include coffins, caskets and urns, memorial jewellery, floral tributes, charitable donation facilitation, pre-paid funeral plans, and repatriation and bereavement support.
